Vazirani Automotive, the Indian company which revealed Vazirani Shul, a turbine-powered electric supercar at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in 2018, has now revealed Vazirani Ekonk, India's fastest electric car. Chunky Vazirani, the founder, and CEO of Vazirani Automotive is all set to unveil the fluidic Ekonk on October 25, 2021.
The Ekonk is a fully electric, single-seater, hypercar that can do 0-100 kmph in simply 2.5 sec. The Ekonk weighs just 738 kg, thanks to its carbon-fibre body construction. And with a power output of 722 hp, it hits the golden 1:1 power-to-weight ratio. Although full specs are yet to be released, the Ekonk achieved a top speed of 309 kmph during a test run at India’s high-speed Naxtrax test facility.
Vazirani says the Ekonk is equipped with DiCo technology, a cooling system that draws inspiration from Biomimicry (studying how animals and humans use breathing to regulate their body temperatures) combined with some ancient Indian manufacturing techniques. It is claimed to be using a solid-state cooling battery with a direct-to-air cooling system as opposed to liquid cooling. "DiCo enables the batteries to cool directly with the air, as opposed to needing liquid cooling that most manufacturers including Tesla use to keep their batteries cool", says the founder.
In the Indian scriptures, Ekonk signifies the beginning of the divine light. The big bang. For us, Ekonk signifies our real beginning, where for the first time design and innovation comes together. It’s our first vehicle that’s ‘alive’, says the company regarding the name of the electric supercar.
